ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick College swimmer Michael Phillips (Austin, TX/James Bowie) placed 24th in the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Phillips, after finishing 31st in the 200 individual medley yesterday at the championships, set a personal best time of 1:41.74 in the 200 free prelims. He swam over a second faster (1.11) than his previous top time in the event.

Phillips will have an idle day tomorrow before concluding competition at the championships Saturday as he swims in the 200 breaststroke prelims at 10 a.m. (CST). A top-16 finish would qualify him for the finals at 6 p.m. He ranks 13th in the country and has not lost a race this year in the event.
