Men's Tennis Moves to 3-1 in Empire 8 Play With 6-3 Win at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY - Wick's men's tennis team capped a successful weekend on Saturday winning 6-3 at Nazareth College. The Hawks won both their matches in Rochester and improved to 3-1 in the Empire 8 standings.

Hartwick took four of six singles matches with Marcelo Navarro (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Sean Barr (Scarsdale, NY), Peter Dumas (Albany, NY), and Mike del Rosario (Troy, NY) all recording straight sets wins. Navarro won his eighth match of the spring, 6-1, 6-2 in second singles. Barr improved to 6-3 with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph in the number four position. Dumas cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles, and del Rosario picked up his third win in the sixth flight.

Boyd and Navarro squeezed out a 9-8 win over Golden Flyers Adam Landry and Steve Trobert for their fifth straight win. Barr and del Rosario earned their fourth win of the year in the third doubles spot with an 8-2 victory.

The Hawks find themselves in third place in the Empire 8 standings behind Ithaca and Stevens. 'Wick hosts both the Bombers (Apr. 14) and the Ducks (Apr. 18) this week in addition to Oneonta State (Apr. 16) and Elmira College (Apr. 19).
