Lauren Ploof and Cassie Dresser

ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick seniors Lauren Ploof (Hammond, NY/Hammond) and Cassie Dresser (Ovid, NY/South Seneca) each were honored as the Empire 8 announced its 2010 All-Conference Teams on Thursday. Ploof received honorable mention from the E8 coaches while Dresser was Hartwick's Sportsperson of the Year.

She broke the 1,000-point mark for her career in December against Oneonta State. After scoring 606 points in two seasons at SUNY Canton, Ploof netted 533 in the last two seasons at 'Wick to close her career with 1,139 points. This season, she ranked 11th in assists (2.42/game) and free-throw percentage (.701), and 15th in scoring in the Empire 8 Conference.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2010 Empire 98 Women's Basketball Sportswoman of the Year Team. The E8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. Dresser distinguished herself and consistently exhibited the critical traits as an outstanding sportswoman. She started in all 24 games this season for the Hawks, averaging 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

The Hartwick women's program ended the 2009-2010 campaign with a 7-17 overall record and a 5-11 showing the Empire 8.
