ONEONTA, N.Y. - Kelsey Campbell (Camillus, N.Y.) and
Jamie Boulton (Camillus, N.Y.) each scored four goals to pace Hartwick to a convincing 20-4 victory over Wells College in women's lacrosse action, Monday afternoon.
The Hawks, who improved to 2-1 overall, opened scoring 26 seconds into the contest as Campbell scored on a free position shot. After the Express answered back 24 seconds later as Emily Anderson collected the first of her three goals,
Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) gave Hartwick the lead for good 3:12 into the contest. The sophomore's third goal of the year triggered a 15-0 run as the Hawks went into intermission sporting a 16-1 lead.
Hartwick opened scoring in the second half on goals by
Emily Coats (Cortland, N.Y.) and
Bianca Gianfrate (Endicott, N.Y.) in the first three minutes before Anderson netted back-to-back goals for Wells at 22:43 and 19:55 to bring the game to 18-3. For Gianfrate, it was her first collegiate goal.
Thorpe finished with three goals, while
Tiffany Bishop (Shoreham, Vt.), Coats, and
Stephanie Nutt (Shirley, N.Y.) provided two each in the victory. Like Gianfrate,
Whitney Carroll (North Bennington,
Vt.) and
Jen Kaye (Altamont, N.Y.) each posted their first collegiate goals for the Hawks as well.
Danielle DePerno (Cortland, N.Y.) made one save in the opening half en route to being credited with the win, while
Emily Follit (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded six saves in the second half. Liz Barclay had nine saves for Wells.
The Hawks will return to action Wednesday as they host Oneonta State at Wright Stadium. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start.
