Brinkman Tabbed Empire 8, ECAC Athlete of the Week

ROCHESTER, NY - Hartwick senior record holder Ashley Brinkman (Ottawa, OH) has been named the Empire 8 Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, announced on Monday. It is the first time this season Brinkman has received the award and the fourth consecutive week that a member of the HC swimming and diving teams has been recognized. On Wednesday, Brinkman was also selected as the ECAC's Division III Diver of the Week.

Brinkman swept the diving events at two meets and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. She met the NCAA "B" qualifying standard and set school records in the Hawks' victories over Oneonta and Monroe Community College with scores of 248.65 on the one-meter board and 272.65 in the three-meter event. Brinkman also won the one- (223.35) and three-meter (263.85) dives against Alfred.

Brinkman and the Hawks next compete at the Empire 8/UNYSCSA Championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse Feb. 18-21.
