ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Hartwick women's tennis players Betsy Breaznell (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central HS) and Jennifer Lin (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central HS) have garnered second team all-Empire 8 Conference accolades, it the league office announced its year end honors, Wednesday.
Breaznell, a sophomore, posted an 8-5 singles record for the Hawks, all at the top spot of the lineup. During the season, she recoded a season-best three match win streak, which included victories over Katie Wlodarczyk (Oneonta State), Kim Kellett (Elmira), and Brianne Francisco (RIT). As a freshman, she was a 2006 first team all-league selection.
Lin, a freshman posted a 9-4 mark for the Hawks at the number two spot in the lineup. During the campaign, she posted a season-high five-match win streak. Lin posted victories over Emily Shannon (Oneonta State), Emily Talbot (Elmira), Alexis Stanley (RIT), Jodi Butterfoss (Alfred), and Beth Kushner (Keuka) from September 19 to the 23rd.
Anne Neely (Milton, Mass./Milton HS) was named as Hartwick's Sportswoman of the Year, which is awarded to the student-athlete from each program that displays team spirit, leadership, and good sportsmanship.
Hartwick ended its season with a 9-0 victory over Potsdam State, October 6 to finish at 5-8 overall.
