Hawks Down Bears In Season Finale

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Hartwick women's tennis squad wrapped up the 2007 season with a 9-0 victory over Potsdam, Saturday.

The Hawks, who ended with a 5-8 record, opened the match by sweeping all doubles events. The tandems of Betsy Breaznell (Delmar, N.Y.) and Jennifer Lin (Albany, N.Y.) as well as Anne Neely (Milton, Mass.) and Lauren Aquino (Loudonville, N.Y.) posted 8-0 decisions at number one and two doubles respectively. Lexi Andrus (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Rebecca Sarro (Newburgh, N.Y.) recorded an 8-1 victory at number three.

In singles action, all six matches were decided in straight sets and no Hartwick player dropped more than one game in a set. Breaznell downed Jessica Harvey 6-0, 6-0 at the top spot; Lin dumped Jessica Castaneda at number two 6-1, 6-1; Neely posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jennifer Burke at number three; Aquino registered a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Jennifer Meere at number four; Andrus defeated Brandi Bishop 6-1, 6-0 at number five, while Kim Post (Pepperell, Mass.) disposed of Myriam Amadou 6-1, 6-0 at number six singles.
