
CLINTON, NY - Hamilton College outlasted Hartwick in five sets on Tuesday night in Clinton to drop the Hawks to 12-23 overall in the season.
Not much separated the two teams on the night as all five sets were decided by three points or less. The Continentals took the first set 25-23 before Hartwick forged ahead with a 29-27 win in the second set and a 25-23 victory in set number three. The hosts would even the match at two sets each, 25-22 in the fourth, and edge the Hawks 15-13 in the deciding frame.
Junior Darcy Dolge (LaGrande, OR) recorded a double-double with a team-high 15 kills and 20 assists for Hartwick. Reigning Empire 8 Rookie of the Week Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY) notched a team-high 24 assists and added four blocks and two aces, while Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY) contributed 10 kills and three aces.
Hamilton's Kristen Selden picked up a match-high 17 kills, and Jo Fier added 10 kills and 30 digs. Kelsey Lawler earned 51 assists for the Continentals, while Amber O'Connor registered 28 digs. Hamilton is now 10-19 on the season.
Hartwick wraps up the 2008 season this weekend with matches against Elmira College and St. John Fisher in Elmira, NY.
