Hartwick Hosts Empire 8 Volleyball Conference Weekend

ROCHESTER, NY - Hartwick College will host the first of two Empire 8 volleyball conference weekends Friday through Sunday. All nine teams will play four matches this weekend and the second conference weekend to be hosted by Nazareth College Oct. 23-25.

There will be nine matches shown on Empire8.tv, including five consecutive matches on Saturday.

This weekend features several key matches in determining which team will garner the top seed and earn the right to host the conference championship on Saturday, Nov. 7. The seeds will be determined by order of finish in the two conference weekends combined with the top four teams advancing to the championship tournament.

Preseason favorite Nazareth College, which went undefeated in the first conference weekend a year ago, opens its Empire 8 play against Alfred University on Saturday. The Golden Flyers face St. John Fisher College on Sunday in a rematch of last year's Empire 8 Volleyball Championship semifinal. Both of those matches will be shown on Empire8.tv.

Stevens Institute of Technology, which has not lost a match in its two years in the conference, play host Hartwick in its first match on Saturday. The Ducks play St. John Fisher and Ithaca College back-to-back on Sunday with the match against the Bombers to be webcast on Empire8.tv.

St. John Fisher begins its conference play against Utica College on Saturday in a match to be shown on Empire8.tv.

Rochester Institute of Technology, which has won three matches against Empire 8 opponents this season, will be featured in the first webcast of the weekend when the Tigers play the host Hawks on Friday. RIT and Ithaca College will meet on Empire8.tv on Saturday in a rematch of a thrilling five-set match in the first conference weekend last season.

Hartwick will also be featured on Empire8.tv against Elmira College on Friday and Alfred on Saturday.
