BRIDGEPORT, PA - Hartwick College's Jessica Mckee (Tustin, CA/Laguna Beach) and Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA/Montebello) both were honored by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) following the Hawks' six matches in California this past week. McKee earned CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week honors, while Martinez was the division's Rookie of the Week.
McKee scored 13 goals, picked up six assists, and five steals for Hartwick this past weekend. Against Cal-Bakersfield, she scored three times in 'Wick's 17-11 win. She tallied twice in the Hawks' 14-8 win over Fresno Pacific and added another two scores in 'Wick's 14-10 victory over Cal-East Bay.
She tallied three times, including the game-winner and added three assists in Hartwick's 10-9 win over Pacific. McKee then registered a goal and assist in a 15-6 win over Monterey Bay and two goals and a helper in the team's 12-7 loss to Cal-Northridge.
Martinez recorded two goals, six assists and six steals in the Hawks' 5-1 week. She notched a goal in a 14-8 victory over Fresno Pacific University before tallying two assists and a pair of steals in a 14-10 win versus Cal-East Bay. In Hartwick's 10-9 comeback defeat of the University of the Pacific, Martinez scored a goal with three assists and a steal.
Following an assist in a 15-6 victory over Cal-Monterey Bay, she wrapped up the weekend with two steals in a 12-7 loss to No. 13-ranked Cal-Northridge as the Hawks wrapped up the best West Coast swing in program history.
