
BRIDGEPORT, PA -- Freshman Sasha Freeborn (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls College) earned CWPA Northern Rookie of the Week after scoring seven goals, and recording four assists and three steals in a 2-1 weekend at the Elite 8 Tournament in Indiana.
Freeborn posted a goal, two assists and a steal versus No. 20 Princeton University (10-8 W) in the opening round, before contributing two goals, an assist, and three kickouts drawn in a semifinal victory over the University of Maryland (11-8 W). Facing the No. 8-ranked University of Michigan in the tournament title game, she slashed the Maize and Blue for four goals, an assist, two steals, and three kickouts drawn in an 11-8 defeat.
A Hartwick player has earned Rookie of the Week honors in three of the last four weeks. Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA/Montebello) received the distinction on Feb. 15 and Feb. 22.
The Hawks next compete at the Marist Invitational on March 20th and 21st. Hartwick opens the tournament against St. Francis at 11 a.m.
