Hartwick Falls to Union in Field Hockey

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Lizzy Moran netted two first half goals to propel Union to a 3-1 victory over Hartwick, Tuesday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Frank Bailey Field.

The Dutchwomen, who improved to 10-4 overall, opened scoring at 5:59 as Moran got her first tally of the game. Less than nine minutes later, the sophomore stretched the lead again at 14:27 with her second score. Union took the 2-0 lead into intermission.

The Dutchwomen opened scoring in the second half as Kelsey Powers upped the lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute of action. Hartwick ended Union's shutout bid at 62:31 as freshman Amanda Barton (Endicott, N.Y.) scored her third goal of the year from Amanda Johnson (Reading, Vt.).

Katie Thorpe (South Windsor, Conn.) made seven saves in net for Hartwick, while Liz Stanford saved seven shots for Union.

Hartwick, now 7-7 on the year, returns to action Saturday as it travels to face Washington & Jefferson. The game gets started at noon in Washington, Pa.
