`Wick Netters Fall to Fisher 6-3

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Dan Riviello (Clyde, N.Y.) and Sean Barr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) each posted singles victories, but it wasn't enough as visiting St. John Fisher snapped Hartwick's three-match win streak with a 6-3 victory, Sunday afternoon at the Oneonta Tennis Club.

The Cardinals, who improved to 8-6 overall (5-2 in league play) took a 2-1 lead into singles competition. Hartwick's lone point came from the top doubles pairing of Riviello and Dan Meininger (Cassville, N.Y.), which tallied a grueling 9-8 victory over Matt Aquino and Mike O'Connor.

In singles competition, Riviello improved to 4-5 on the year by defeating Aquino 6-3, 2-6 (10-4) at number one singles. Barr remained hot and upped his singles mark to 7-2 by outlasting O'Connor 7-6 (1), 6-7(2), 10-7 at four singles.

The Hawks, now 5-4 overall (3-2 in league play) return to action, Tuesday afternoon as they travel to square off with Ithaca. The match starts at 4 p.m.
