Ducks Blank Hartwick in Tennis

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Stevens Tech won all six singles matches in straight sets en route to a 9-0 victory over Hartwick, Sunday afternoon in Empire 8 Conference men's tennis action.

The Ducks walked off the courts with a 3-0 lead following doubles. The tandem of Ricky Bawa and Arik Zeevy downed Dan Riviello (Clyde, N.Y.) and Dan Meininger (Cassville, N.Y.) 8-2 at the top doubles spot; Zhi Ko and Jay Lee defeated Eric DesRoberts (Biddeford, Maine) and Sean Barr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) 8-0 at second doubles, while Piotr Rusinkiewicz and Jason Ringstad defeated Dave Altman (Katonah, N.Y.) and Ryan Hughes (Clifton Park, N.Y.) 8-1 at the final doubles pairing.

In singles action, Ko beat Riviello 6-2, 6-1 at number one; Zeevy posted a 6-2, 6-0 result over Meininger at number two; Bawa finished off DesRoberts 6-0, 6-0 at third singles; Rusinkiewicz tallied a 6-2, 6-2 win at four singles over Barr; Ringstad posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Altman at five singles, while Hughes dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Lee at the final singles spot.

Hartwick, 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the E8, returns to action, Tuesday afternoon as it travels to face Utica. The match starts at 4 p.m.
