'Wick Swimmers Claim Victories at Hartwick Relays

ONEONTA, NY - The Hartwick College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both took first place at the 3rd Annual Hartwick Relays on Saturday at Moyer Pool in Oneonta. The men's team won the five-team event with 160 points, 62 points in front of second-place University of Rochester. The Hawk women earned a slightly narrower victory finishing the event with 134 points. Rochester was in second place with 108.

Seniors Steve VanDuzer (Tunkhannock, PA), Chris French (Newtown, CT), Kevin Milkovich (Newburgh, NY), and Tomie Schoening (Edan Prairie, MN), and sophomore Eric Goble (Bellefontaine, OH) were part of four winning relays on the day. Freshmen Michael Phillips (Austin, TX) and Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA) each swam in three winning events. Sophomore Bill MacElveen (Poughkeepsie, NY) was involved with two winning relays on the afternoon and senior Gregg Ducey (Sauderstown, RI) took part in one.

On the women's side, freshman Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA) swam in four winning races to lead Hartwick. Senior Casey Whittaker (Salisbury, MA) took part in three winning events, senior Katie Swanson (Franklin, MA) swam in two, and Robyn Smith (Jupiter, FL), Kate Ahrendtsen (New Hartford, NY), Katherine Holmes (Cotuit, MA), Erin Gray (Gardner, MA), and Kristen Grunert (Oakland, CA) each captured one win each. Hartwick's swim teams are back in action next Saturday at Moyer Pool against Cazenovia and Cobleskill.
