Ann Burgin - Diving Coach
burgina@hartwick.edu

Ann Burgin is in her tenth year as the diving coach for the Hartwick men's and women's teams.

In her first season with the program, Burgin and her assistant diving coach, Gary Zurn, guided the men's diving team to arguably its best season in the program's history. Three of her male divers finished among the top seven in the one- and three-meter boards at the UNYSCSA Championships and she was honored with the Diving Coach of the Meet Award.

Burgin was instrumental in the development of former Hartwick standout and All-American Mark Phillips. Under her direction, Phillips capped off his collegiate career by placing 13th at the 2006 NCAA Division III Championships in Minneapolis by garnering honorable mention All-America honors following a 13th place finish in the three meters. It marked the third time in his career he accomplished the feat as he earned the same distinction his sophomore and junior seasons. In addition, he was named the Male Diver of the Meet at the 2004 UNYSCSA Championships.

Burgin also has been integral in the development of the current collection of divers at Hartwick, most recently, Ashley Brinkman. In the 2005-06 campaign, the then freshman was named the Female Diver of the Meet at the 2005 ECAC Winter Championships by capturing first in the one-meter and second in the three-meter event. Later, Brinkman copped both titles at the Empire 8 Championships. As a junior, Brinkman duplicated her freshman feat by winning the one and three-meter titles at the E8 Championships en route to being named the Female Diver of the Year. To cap her career, Brinkman swept the 1-meter and 3-meter state and conference titles in February and repeated as the conference's Diver of the Year.
