More than half of our students participated in sports in high school and about a third of them belong to one or more of our 17 varsity athletic teams. So you’ll be surrounded by smart students who aren’t afraid of a little competition and those who want to stay fit, body and mind.
We’re outfitted for serious play. Binder Physical Education Center houses Lambros Arena, Moyer Pool, Elting Fitness Center, racquetball and squash courts, a strength-training room, dance studios, and saunas. We also have six tennis courts; a 400-meter synthetic track; Wright Stadium, where our football, field hockey, and lacrosse teams play; the all-weather Elmore Field for soccer (D-I men’s, D-III women’s); and three natural grass fields for varsity practice and intramural and club team play.
And if you’re more comfortable rooting from the sidelines, buddy up with Swoop, mascot of the Hartwick Hawks. You can show your Hartwick pride all season—but never more than during Code Blue. It’s Hartwick College’s campus-wide spirit initiative. Each varsity team hosts Code Blue home games. Students, faculty, and staff turn out in droves, wearing blue and white, to wildly cheer on our men’s and women’s teams.
