Mental Health Emergencies

A mental health emergency may consist of an individual:

  • exhibiting extreme emotional disturbance or behavioral distress
  • considering harm to self or others
  • disoriented or out of touch with reality
  • has a compromised ability to function
  • is otherwise agitated and unable to be calmed

If a student is experiencing an emergency, CALL THE COUNSELING CENTER IMMEDIATELY. Counselors are on call for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while the college is in session.

After hours:  Call the College Switchboard to reach a counselor. On campus: dial 0, Off campus: 607-431-4200. (A campus safety officer or residence hall staff person may make the call for you.)
