Zach Brown

Zach returned to his hometown of Oneonta after graduating from Nazareth College in Rochester N.Y. and joined the Hartwick College Residential Life and Housing team as a Residence Director of Smith Hall in 2001. Since 2004, Zach has moved up the Residential Life and Housing ladder holding the positions of Area Coordinator (2004-2005) and Assistant Director of Residential Life and Housing (2005-2007) until his current position as the Director of Residential Life, Housing, Student Conduct and Summer Programs. Providing the opportunities for students to grow academically, socially and personally and seeing the students succeed is what makes residential life a great environment to work in.

Is excited to join the Residential Life Office as the Assistant Director of Residential life. Prior to arriving to Hartwick, Heather was a Residence Director at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She earned her graduate degree, Masters of Science in Education with a concentration in Leadership, from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where she was also a Graduate Assistant/ Graduate hall Director in Residence Life. Heather recently celebrated her ten year class reunion at Cedar Crest college located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She will be living in Hilltop.

Erin Toal

A product of the trees and the trails, Erin is responsible for the managing all aspects of Pine Lake Environmental Campus, including resident concerns, facilities reservations, coordinating programs/events, supervising Pine Lake staff, and providing support to groups and individuals who wish to use the Lake. A former resident of Pennsylvania, Erin has degrees and over 14 years' experience in the Outdoor Recreation and Education fields.  Erin, Mr. Darcy (kitty-cat), Barley (puppy dog), and partner Monica share the 1810 cabin, on-site. They enjoy hiking, gardening, cooking, traveling, skiing, and changes that come with each season.  Erin splits her time between Pine Lake and her Campus office (Dewar 320) where she works to manage the Pine Lake, Challenge Education, and Awakening Programs.

Helen Gillies

Helen is very excited to join the Residential Life team at Hartwick College. She received her Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology in 2009 from The College of New Rochelle, and her Masters from The College of Saint Rose in College Student Services Administration in 2011. Helen has four years experience in housing and enjoys helping students and their families get the most out of their college experience. When not at work, Helen can be found at the pool, walking her dog - Lyra, or reading a good book.

Alice joined Hartwick College in August 2011 and is excited to be a member of the Residential Life Team. Alice studied English at SUNY Oneonta, where she was a Resident Advisor for over two years. Upon graduation, Alice returned to her hometown of Long Island, New York. She worked in various fields before attending graduate school to follow her true passion for working with college students. Alice graduated from Hofstra University with her Master's degree in Education, focusing in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies & Higher Education. Alice loves working in residence life because every day is fresh and exciting and she enjoys helping students learn and grow.

Ed came to Hartwick College in July of 2014. He earned his BA in English Literature from Penn State Behrend, and his ME in Higher Education Administration from SUNY Buffalo. Ed also worked as an RA for three years as an undergraduate, and for three years as an Assistant Hall Director during his graduate studies. A longtime enthusiast of the Liberal Arts, he is excited for the opportunity to help Hartwick Students pursue their academic and personal goals.
