MISSION STATEMENT

In our residential college environment, the Department of Residential Life and Housing fosters holistic development of the student.  Moving well beyond issues of comfort and safety, Residential Life provides the tools necessary to establish a strong sense of community that stimulates intellect and encourages personal growth through purposeful programs, services and engagement.

WELCOME from the Office of Residential Life and Housing:

On behalf of The Office of Residential Life and Housing I welcome you to the Hartwick College community. By living on campus at a residential college such as Hartwick, you will experience many things that will help you become an engaged member and leader, both here in the Hartwick community and beyond.

Whether you are living in a traditional residence hall, suite, townhouse, or on-campus house, you will meet a wide variety of people-from those who share many similar qualities, ideas, and interests, to those who have backgrounds quite different from your own. This diversity is what makes living in a residence hall and being part of a residential campus community interesting and fun. We believe that it also is important to your own personal growth as you prepare for your future. I encourage you to become engaged in the Hartwick community through residence hall programs and as an active member of one of our 65 student-run clubs and organizations.

Residential life also offers students opportunities for interesting discussions with roommates and fellow classmates about both local and world events. You will learn much through your interaction with your peers, and I encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities that come your way while living and learning in the residence hall. The Office of Residential Life and Housing is here to help you with your transition to college. Resident Directors and Resident Advisors, who live in the residence halls with you, are available to help.
