Housing Points System
Student's GPA is multiplied by 1000 + additional/subtracted points based on the list below = housing points
- 50 points for club/organization leadership position
- 35 points for active club and organization membership
- 50 points for athletic team captain
- 35 points for athletic team participation
- 50 points for active participation (more than two nights hosting) in Hartwick Overnight Program (HOP)
- 35 points for passive participation
- 35 points for "Note Takers" working with the Disability Services Office
- 50 points deducted for each policy violation
- A variety of different points are available as prizes throughout the year for students.
Example #1:
The following is an example of point calculation for a student from the Class of 2013 who had a 3.0 GPA, who participated in varsity volleyball, was a member of the Student Senate, and hosted 4 prospective students through the HOP program:
3.0 X 1000 = 3000 base number of points
+35 points for active club membership
+35 points for athletic participation
+50 points for HOP active participation
3120 points total
Example #2:
The following is an example of point calculation for a student from the Class of 2014 who had a 2.9 GPA, who is the president for Student Union, a member of Hilltops, and had a level 1 sanction:
2.9 X 1000 = 2900 base number of points
+50 points for club leadership position
+35 points for active club membership
-50 points for level one sanction
2935 points total
Example #3:
The following is an example of point calculation for a student from the Class of 2015 who had a 3.1 GPA, who was involved with nothing and had two policy violations:
3.1 X 1000 = 3100 base number of points
-50 points for violation #1
-50 points for violation #2
3000 points total
