Peer Education
The b.l.u.e. Peer Educators are Hartwick College students who are committed to creating an environment that provides students with healthy resources through educational programming. b.l.u.e. stands for be.live.understand.educate. Our peer educators are energetic students who choose to make a contribution to the campus through peer programming. They feel that by educating their fellow students they can help to motivate personal growth in others as well as themselves and assist in creating a healthier community at Hartwick.
The b.l.u.e. Peer Educators assist the Wellness Education Office with many programmatic experiences, such as awareness and social activities as well as the general promotion of healthy life choices. b.l.u.e. Peer Educators are trained to facilitate on-campus workshops and programs that address issues related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual responsibility, nutrition, and wellness awareness activities. Applications are available for students interested in becoming a b.l.u.e. Peer Educator. This is an excellent opportunity for students of any major to become involved and give back to their community. You can click here to download an application (pdf document), or pick one up at the Wellness Education Office in Dewar Union.
Not sure if becoming a peer educator is for you? There are other ways to get involved. The Wellness Education Office offers a number of opportunities, from evaluating programs and creating publicity, to internship and volunteer opportunities related to awareness campaigns that help support keeping our campus aware of health and wellness related issues.
Hartwick College uses the Bacchus Peer Education Network as a basis for its peer education program. Click here for more information on the Bacchus Network.
