Alpha Sigma Phi was founded at Yale College in 1845 as a secret sophomore society composed of many of the school’s authors, poets, athletes, and scholars. Upon rising through the ranks of the school, members shared membership with Alpha Sigma Phi in Skull and Bones nad Key and eventually Wolf’s Head. The founders of Alpha Sigma Phi were Louis Maigault, Stephen Ormsby Rhea, Horace Spangler Weiser. Alpha Sigma Phi has 68 chapters nationwide and recruits gentlemen of high scholarship, character, and moral values. The society promotes the highest form of scholarship and patriotism, and looks to better each man that accepts membership into the organization.
