Outdoor Club
The Outdoor Club consists of a diverse group of individuals that shares one common trait: They love being outdoors and participating in outdoor sports/leisurely activities. This includes but certainly is not limited to hiking, camping, canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking, and rock climbing.
The Outdoor Club facilitates outdoor events and activities for club members and the Hartwick community at large. Membership is open to the Hartwick community and new sponsored events are always being sought out/worked on.
Some of our events include:
- October backpacking trips in the Catskill Mountains
- Outdoor rock-climbing at Little Falls, the Gunks, and Good Luck Cliffs
- Indoor rock-climbing at Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown
- Local hikes around Table Rock on the Hartwick campus, Pine Lake, Mud Lake, the Franklin Mountain Hawkwatch and Audubon Sanctuary, and Emmons Bog
- Hawk Circle fire making, tracking, bone-carving, rope making, and shelter-building workshops
- Canoeing, snowshoeing, snow-shelter making, camping, and bonfires at Pine Lake
In the past the club also has gone caving, white water rafting, and kayaking. Join our e-mail list by e-mailing outdoorclub@hartwick.edu. This will allow you to find out about upcoming events and communicate with the Outdoor Club leaders.
