Health Insurance Coverage

Hartwick College requires that all students maintain medical insurance coverage. For students who are U.S. citizens and covered under their own or a parent's health insurance, the College health insurance is optional. For international students, the Hartwick College health insurance is mandatory.

For 2011-12, the rates are as follows:

  • $1035 for 12-month coverage (August 25, 2011-August 24, 2012)
  • $285 to add optional increase in coverage from $25,000 to $50,000 per incident

In the event that a student requires only partial-year coverage, Fall coverage runs from August 25 to December 31, 2011, at a cost of $517.50. Spring-only coverage runs from January 1 to August 24, 2012, at a cost of $570.00. Students must be enrolled at Hartwick to be eligible for coverage.

The Fall Term billing statement includes a charge of $517.50 for the first half of the 12-month student health insurance. This charge will remain and the student will be enrolled in the Hartwick College Health Insurance Program unless the insurance election form is completed and returned to the Office of Student Accounts by August 15.

A new election form must be submitted each academic year. Information regarding the insurance program is mailed each summer.  The Health Insurance Election Notice is available here

The 2011-12 brochure, outlining coverage for the current year, is available here. The Health Insurance Claim Form can be found here. All claims should be submitted to the Perrella Wellness Center.
