Commencement is a reward for your graduate, you, your family, and the college; a time to reflect on accomplishments and to look forward with great anticipation to all of the opportunity that will unfold. We hope that you will be able to join us.

COMMENCEMENT WEEKEND INFORMATION

Accommodations
Accommodations are always limited for the weekend of Commencement. Please plan ahead. For a listing of local accommodations resources, please click here.

Announcements
Graduates are provided with five generic announcements free of charge. Students may also choose to order personalized Commencement announcements, name cards, thank you notes, as well as other items, from Jostens. You may order directly from the Jostens website at www.jostens.com/college or call 1-800-854-7464.

Baccalaureate Celebration
Seniors and their families are encouraged to attend this celebration, which will take place Friday, May 22, at Foothills Performing Arts & Civic Center, 24 Market Street, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Commencement Ceremony Seating
The ceremony will take place under a tent that can accommodate approximately 3,500 guests. We encourage all to arrive on campus around 10:30 a.m. to find parking and seating.

Class Rings
Class rings also may be ordered through Balfour representative Marie Bliss at www.balfourcollege.com, by cell (518-429-9140), or by office (518-371-5213).

Closed-Circuit Broadcast
The Commencement ceremony will be broadcast live through the College’s closed-circuit system and can be viewed from any campus television on Channel 4.

Commencement Gifts
If you are interested in seeing what Barnes and Noble Bookstore has for Commencement gifts, visit their website by clicking here. Barnes and Noble Bookstore will also have a table available on Elmore Field for those who wish to purchase a last minute gift.

Diploma Frames
Diploma frames are available at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore (607-431-4342).

Flower Sales
There will be a flower vendor, Commencement Flowers, on the grounds near the Commencement tent prior to the start of the ceremony and after the ceremony if you wish to purchase flowers for your graduate. By clicking their link above, you may also pre-order flowers to pick up that day.

Parking
Campus Safety personnel will be posted at all campus entrances Commencement Day to direct guests to parking lots. Shuttle service will be provided to transport guests from parking lots to Elmore Field (adjacent to Binder Gymnasium), the venue for the Commencement ceremony. The Binder parking lot adjacent to Elmore Field, as well as spaces adjacent to and below Binder Gymnasium, will be reserved for handicapped parking, and only cars with a visible handicapped sticker will be allowed to park there. An elevator in Golisano Hall will take guests to the lower entrance to Binder, where another elevator can take guests to the level where the ceremony is taking place. Photography
During the ceremony, there will be a professional photography company taking pictures of each graduate receiving a diploma from the President. To order photos, visit www.uscandids.com and search "Graduations".  Questions may directed to U.S. Candids at 484-891-0482 or mail@uscandids.com.  

Webcast
The Commencement ceremony will be broadcast live on the Commencement webpage beginning at 11:30 am. A broadband connection is required to view the Webcast. To view the Webcast, Windows Media Player is required.

Note: Streaming video from the Webcast link will be intermittent until just before the ceremony.

Wheelchair and Special Needs Assistance
Reserved seating is available for guests with wheel-chairs and special needs. Arrangements will be made for an interpreter for the hearing impaired, if the need for that service is made known. Arrangements must be made through Leah Elwood in the Office of the Registrar by May 1 (607-431-4435).

There will be a drop-off area next to Binder Athletic Center where guests with infirm or elderly passengers, but without a sticker, will be directed. Please indicate your interest in being directed to the drop-off area to Campus Safety personnel when you drive on campus. Golf carts will be available at the drop-off location to transport elderly or infirm guests to the Commencement tent and return them to the drop-off area following the ceremony.
