Three-Year Degree geology major with a minor in environmental science and policy from Greene, NY

Why Hartwick?
The campus is beautiful, the faculty and staff are warm and welcoming, and the academics are superb.

What are your classes like?
My classes are small, which was something I looked forward to when I came to Hartwick. Geology classes are my favorite (probably because it's my major) and I enjoy being in the classroom almost as much as I enjoy the fieldwork. I have really dedicated professors who always have time for me to drop by their office to ask a few questions, which helps when the material gets challenging.

What does "theory into practice" mean to you?
"Theory into practice" is being able to take all the information I learned in lecture and put it to use in the lab or the field where it is useful. It is learning in a hands-on environment.

How have your professors made an impact on your education?
My professors are always excited to teach and that's where I get my enthusiasm for my own major.

What do you do outside the classroom?
I am the Coordinator of Clubs and Organizations for Student Senate, a Smith Hall RA, a peer leader, the secretary of Delta Delta G (the geology club), and a member of Hall Council, Up Til' Dawn, and Grassroots.

How do you describe Hartwick to your friends back home?
Hartwick has an inspiring atmosphere, both in and out of the classroom.

What comes after Hartwick?
After Hartwick, the plan is to go to graduate school for more geology and environmental policy. One of the things I have learned at Hartwick is that politics and the environment's best interests don't always go hand in hand. I want to research greener energy possibilities and work with lawmakers to provide new and updated laws for the United States that keep the environment healthy and lower pollution. I have realized that humans will always interact and that we will always influence our environment, but I want to help minimize the negative effects.

What would you tell future Hartwick students?
Hartwick has been a great experience for me and I'm sure other Hartwick students would agree. At Hartwick, you will grow as a person, learn the skills to make yourself a good future, and expand your horizons because you will achieve way past your goals and expectations.
