Laurie Baird Ducey '75 P'09
Laurie Baird Ducey '75 P'09, is one of many generous alumni who continue to donate to Hartwick College after graduation. Laurie continues to donate after her son Greg's graduation from Hartwick in 2009 stating that "we want anyone who needs money to afford a Hartwick education to get money!"
She supports Hartwick because she has seen her gifts being used wisely. Past President Richard P. Miller "did such a great job securing funds and constructing the new building-Golisano Hall," she says, and President Dr. Margaret L. Drugovich has "kept the college moving forward."
Laurie recalls her Hartwick experience as "the best." Laurie graduated with a degree in accounting. She also held the position of treasurer and President of the Gamma Phi Delta sorority.
Her son, Greg '09, was a swimmer while at Hartwick and completed a J Term experience in Greece. Since his graduation, he has been employed at Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston. He is also married to a Hartwick graduate, Richelle Schmidt '09, who now works as a delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Laurie is grateful that her parents afforded her a Hartwick education. In fact, her parents sent all three of their daughters to Hartwick College as they were "great believers in a Hartwick College education."
Hartwick College is fortunate to have dedicated alumni like Laurie who plans to encourage her son to continue the family tradition of donating to Hartwick.
