Hartwick Students Explore a Rock Slide in Peru

Hartwick College 2014 January Term Application Period Open

March 21, 2013

The 2014 Off-Campus January Term (J Term) Program application submission period is officially open. The 2014 line up of programs currently includes a choice of 22 courses to 18 countries, providing a view of the world through 18 different Hartwick disciplines.

Hartwick's J Term offers wonderful opportunities for students to travel, study, and live off-campus. Students may select from a variety of destinations for their month-long off-campus experience. Programs will be held in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, as well as North, Central, and South America.

This year, a new course, SPAN 285/385/485, will be offered in Peru. During this course, students will learn of the realities facing Peru today. While learning and perfecting the Spanish language, students will be able to learn of the beneficial and negative impacts of tourism on the indigenous people, of the difficulties facing the peasant communities in a world of globalization, of the various ways in which the Spanish and the indigenous world have come together, and of the ways in which the beliefs of the Inca are still alive today in the lives of the Peruvians.

Not sure where you want to go? Visit the J Term Program webpage to learn of the different trips that are scheduled. Already decided on a Off-Campus J Term course?
