The Apple Tree is an almost entirely student-run production. It is an exciting evening of musical theatre that charts man, woman, and temptations. With a book by Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Jerome Coopersmith and a score by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, The Apple Tree is an evening of musical theatre that subtly makes one think about love.

The show is a fast-paced three-act musical. The first act, "The Diary Of Adam And Eve," is a quirky, touching spin on the tale of the world's first couple, adapted from Mark Twain's "Extracts From Adam's Diary." The second, "The Lady Or The Tiger?" explores the fickle nature of love in a mythical barbarian kingdom. Finally, "Passionella" is based on Jules Feiffer's offbeat Cinderella-story about a chimney sweep whose dreams of being a "glamorous movie star" nearly sabotage her one chance for true love.

The cast, orchestra, and crew are entirely composed of Hartwick College students and alumni.

Principal characters are portrayed by Alex Zook '09, Molly Bolton '10, Benjamin Chronchio '12, Bianca Tubolino '12, Jeff King '12, Nedia V. de Shong '12, Emmanuella Brakye '11, Dan Dimant '11, and Ben Crosby '09. The Chorus includes Eliza Lockhart-Jenks '09, Andy Scuderi '09, Mariel Glover '10, Tim Huey '10, Sarabeth Henderson '10, and Kate Wigg '12.

The Apple Tree is directed by Seth Lucas '10, with musical direction by Nancy Andrist '09 and staged managed by Blair Coppola '11. Joey Haws '09 serves as costume designer and scenic designer. Theatre Arts Intern Meghan Doherty '08 serves as lighting designer, Media Service Assistant Samantha Green '08 is technical director, and Caitlin Strunk '10 is the sound technician. Jessica Schwartz '12 and Lita Benson '12 comprise the props crew.
