Hartwick to Host August Open House for Prospective StudentsJuly 2, 2013
Hartwick College will host an Open House program on Saturday, August 3, 2013 for all those interested in becoming a part of the Hartwick College student community. To register for this event or for other Open House events planned in the future, use this convenient online form.
While on campus, attendees will discover how a Hartwick education is about much more than what is learned in the classroom. At Hartwick, it's about having the courage to push the limits, to learn by doing, to study in another country like 62% of the College's student body, to face challenges, and to take risks through an engaged collaborative learning process both within and outside of the classroom.
The Open House will kick off with registration in the lobby of Binder Physical Education Center from 8:30 - 9:50 a.m., where students and families will learn about Hartwick's academic programs and co- and extra-curricular opportunities by speaking with members of the faculty and professional staff. A discussion about how to market yourself on your College application will be offered soon after at 10:40 a.m.
Prospective students will also have the opportunity to attend informational sessions on Hartwick's Honors Program and the College's Three-Year Degree Program. Through the latter option, talented students in 24 of the College's 31 majors can reduce the cost of their college education by a full 25% while enjoying the full Hartwick experience.
Attendees will learn how an 11:1 student/faculty ratio ensures that an education at Hartwick concentrates on each individual student. Students and families will be able to meet with representatives from the College's Center for Student Success and The Center for Professional, Service and Global Engagement (PSGE) to learn more about Hartwick's vision of melding a liberal arts education with experiential learning. Prospective students may choose to meet with representatives from the college's Office of Residence Life and Housing, Student Activities and Athletics Department during this time as well.
Lunch will be provided, with tours of the College's 425-acre, scenic campus in the foothills of the Catskills and meetings with admissions counselors available throughout the day. Families will also have the chance to visit the College bookstore and to visit Hartwick's off-campus facilities: Pine Lake Environmental Campus and Hunter's Rein Equestrian Facility.
