NH Bar International Law Section Chairman Philip Walker presents Daniel Webster International Lawyer of the Year Award to Ambassador Bruno

Alumnus George Bruno Named 2013 Daniel Webster International Lawyer of the Year

Distinguished attorney of New Hampshire and United States Ambassador (retired) George C. Bruno '64, H '96 has recently been awarded the 2013 Daniel Webster International Lawyer of the Year Award from the New Hampshire Bar Association. The award was bestowed upon Bruno on December 2, 2013 at the Bar Center in Concord, NH.

"There are few greater career honors than to be recognized by one's professional peers," said Bruno of the award. "More and more, international law intersects our daily practise of law. I am proud to be part of this cutting edge new legal frontier as a member of the Bar's International Law Section.  May we continue to lead the way in this expanding horizon."

According to the NH Bar Association citation, "With experience in over 55 countries, George Bruno is among the most versatile and effective international lawyers in the NH Bar. His contributions range from complex international business transactions in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, to anti-narcotics work in Latin America, election observations in the war-torn Balkans, and skillful diplomacy in Central America. Most notably, he is a gifted mentor to NH Bar members who embark on international engagements worldwide, thereby bringing great credit and honor to the bar as he continues to serve the international community with distinction."

Bruno received his BA from Hartwick College; JD from George Washington University, Washington, DC, and a Law Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Bruno currently practises global immigration law from his Manchester, NH office.  He is a member of the Bars in New York, New Hampshire, the District of Columbia, and the US Supreme Court. He previously served as Chair of the International Law Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association.  Bruno served as U.S. Ambassador to Belize under President Bill Clinton.
