Morrill Retrospective Opening Reception is December 3 in Foreman GalleryNovember 20, 2009
The Hartwick College Department of Art & Art History is exhibiting "Dick Morrill: A Retrospective" from November 24 to December 20, 2009 in the Foreman Gallery of Anderson Center for the Arts on the College campus.
An Opening Reception with Morrill will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on December 3, 2009. The public is invited to attend.
New York City Art Critic Brook Mason has observed that Morrill "is an uncommonly gifted figurative artist who employs portraiture and narrative painting to examine the human condition, at once building on and upending the German Expressionist aesthetic. Demonstrating virtuoso technique, his pictures draw the viewer into a world steeped in contradictions, yet infused with emotion and caustic humor. Morrill's oeuvre encompasses his recent bas-relief portraits and a prolific output of oils that bristle with knowing insight into the foibles and posturing, the anxiety and nobility that propel the human comedy."
