January Term Scholarship Giveaway

During the course of the Open House, 10 scholarships will be awarded. These $2,000 awards may be used during any of a student's four years at Hartwick to defray the cost of a January Term study-abroad program.

J Term is about liberal arts and experiential learning, research and collaborations, professional and academic presentations, deep and advanced study, internships, practicums, and performances. J Term presents opportunities that most people never get--to spend concentrated time living and learning like you never have before. Have a different experience in each of your four years. Reconsider what you think; increase who you know. Shift your ideas about who you are, who you want to be.

You have options: lots of them. Intense on-campus courses in or outside your major. Domestic travel on and off the mainland. International travel to Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, the African continent, South and Central America. Hartwick has been offering domestic and international academic programs during J Term for 30 years. Every one a faculty-led course, internship, or directed study.

Registration for the Open House will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Binder Physical Education Center, with early-bird tours of Hartwick's hilltop campus leaving Binder every five minutes beginning at 9 a.m. Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to visit staff from Athletics, Student Affairs, Career Services, Study Abroad, Financial Aid, and more.

At 10:30 a.m., a special program, "Explore Academics a Hartwick," is planned. Participants will be treated to an overview of the Sciences, Health Sciences, The Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Nursing, and how they can include the remarkable January Term experience as a cornerstone of a Hartwick Education.

Faculty members will present on a variety of academic opportunities at Hartwick, discuss collaborative research with students, projects their students are working on, and what their alumni are doing, as well as details about J Term opportunities.

At 11:35 a.m., a roundtable discussion with current students is planned, during which prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to participate in an open forum to get the straight scoop on all Hartwick has to offer.

At 12:25 p.m., prospective students will meet with their admissions counselor. Those who have not yet applied to attend Hartwick may do so at this time, and can get a decision instantly by bringing a completed application and their high school transcript.
