Hartwick to Host February Open House Event for Prospective StudentsJanuary 3, 2013
Hartwick College will host an Open House program on Saturday, February 23, 2013 for all those interested in becoming a part of the Hartwick College student community. We push students toward career and life success by making sure they have opportunities to learn by doing. At Hartwick students do more, so they can be more. Use this convenient online form and register for Hartwick's upcoming Open House program.
The Open House event will provide prospective students and their families with plenty of opportunities while on campus. Attendees will be able to meet with Hartwick faculty and students in their prospective major, tour Hartwick's campus, discover the College's study-abroad opportunities, speak with coaches and other student affairs professionals, speak with their admissions counselor, hear of an admissions decision through the College's Instant Decision program, and much more.
The event will begin with registration from 8:30 a.m. through 10 a.m. in the lobby of Yager Hall, at which point students and families will have the opportunity to join an early bird tour. Attendees will then have the opportunity to meet with their respective admissions counselor and current students from their major to ask questions in a group setting. This will be followed by meeting faculty in their academic space of interest (e.g. - those interested in Nursing will meet in the Nursing lab). Lunch will be provided, with tours continuing throughout the afternoon.
Students will also be able to learn of a decision on admission and merit scholarship amount during this time. Students must complete an online application or print a copy and bring a final end-of-year junior transcript as well as a resume or essay that speaks to their accomplishments/involvements outside the classroom. Please note that these decisions are not binding agreements.
Families will also have the opportunity to visit the College bookstore and to venture out to Hartwick's Pine Lake Environmental Campus, and Hunter's Rein Equestrian Facility.
This Open House will also be for those students interested in Hartwick College's Start Out Academics Right (SOAR) program. Hartwick's SOAR program is for highly motivated students who just need some extra support - and a plan for success. SOAR is a five-week summer program featuring credit-bearing college coursework. SOAR students use the coursework they've completed over the summer to reduce their course load in the fall, taking some of the pressure off. These students will have lunch with staff members from The Center for Student Success, current graduates of SOAR, and SOAR faculty. Interested students can apply to the program by completing the SOAR application.
