The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014

Fiske Guide To Colleges Taps Hartwick in 2014 Edition

July 8, 2013

Hartwick College is featured in the 2014 edition of The Fiske Guide to Colleges as one of the country's best and most interesting colleges. The highly-selective guide - referred to as "The Best College Guide You Can Buy" by USA Today - includes just over 300 colleges and universities out of over 7,000 higher education institutions in the U.S., chosen for their strength in areas such as academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting, extracurricular activities and more.

"Hartwick is known for its cozy atmosphere and ability to take good care of students," reads the 2014 Fiske Guide. "Student/faculty collaborations are the norm, as is the emphasis on learning through real-world experiences, from working in a Jamaican hospital to interning with the New York Mets." Other Hartwick programs, such as the Three-Year Degree Program and the Awakening Program are also discussed within this year's Guide as key benefits offered at Hartwick.

"As one of the most reliable and prestigious guides for college-bound students and their parents, The Fiske Guide considers many facets of the overall college experience. These include the quality of life, academics, financial aid offered and much more," explained David Conway, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing. "Hartwick's inclusion in The Fiske Guide year after year reaffirms the tremendous benefits of our brand of personalized, hands-on education focused on student success."

The Fiske Guide, designed to give a selective, subjective and systematic look at colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain, seeks to give readers the real personality of the institutions based on a wide range of subjects. Research, accompanied by testimonials from students, provides helpful and honest information about academic climates and courses.

For 30 years, students, parents and guidance counselors have relied on The Fiske Guide's reviews when researching higher education institutions. The Guide is compiled by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske.
