Forbes Names Hartwick One of America's Top Colleges

August 11, 2011

Hartwick College has been named one of the best colleges in the country by Forbes magazine and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

Hartwick places 354th overall in Forbes' 2012 ranking of the 650 best colleges and universities in the nation, up 32 spots from last year. Hartwick also ranks 285th among private colleges and 111th in the Northeast. Forbes ranks only the top 20 percent of all undergraduate programs.

"Our rise in the Forbes ranking reflects our continued commitment to a quality liberal arts education, myriad experiential learning opportunities, and student-faculty collaborative research," Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing David Conway said. "We are dedicated to ensuring an affordable education through strong financial-aid programs, modest tuition increases, and innovative offerings such as the Three-Year Bachelor's Degree Program, and we are pleased that we have been recognized for that dedication."

In compiling this year's college rankings, the Center for College Affordability and Productivity focused on students' points of view, post-graduate success, average salaries of graduates, estimated average student debt after four years, student evaluations of courses and instructors, graduation rates, and percentage of students or faculty who have won nationally competitive awards.
