Second Annual Hartwick Hill Race Set for May 7

April 29, 2011

The second annual Hartwick Hill Race will be held on Saturday, May 7. The event will benefit The Family Resource Network, and all are invited to get some good exercise for a great cause.

The Family Resource Network and the Hartwick College Fellowship of Christian Athletes have organized the race for the second year. Registration begins at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Saxton Hall and the race begins at noon. The race will run from the base of the Hartwick College campus to Elmore Field at the top, where the Hartwick College men's and women's soccer teams will be hosting the EDD Fund Soccer Clinic for individuals with disabilities from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The registration fee for individual runners/walkers is $7. The fee for the Caterpillar Race (a team of four which runs the race tied together) is $28.  There are prizes for first, second and third place. There will also be a prize for the individual or team with the most spirit, inspired by last year's Hobart Fire Department Bagpipers, who ran the race in their kilts. Immediately following the race, runners and soccer players will be treated to an Ice Cream Social as results from the race are announced and prizes awarded.  Members of the New York Stallions Football Team are registered to run as well as help serve ice cream following the race.

To preregister for the race online, visit the FRN website at  Those who would like to contribute without racing, send a check to the Family Resource Network, Inc. or donate on-line.   One hundred percent of the proceeds from the race benefit local families.

The Oneonta-based Family Resource Network works to represent the interests of families and individuals with special needs in funding, planning, monitoring, and advocacy of programs to enrich their lives. Funds raised through The Hartwick Hill Race will go toward the Anemarie Wenck Resource Fund, which serves to provide families with a special-needs child financial support for medical and other needs when other sources have been exhausted.
