Intern Queen Lauren Berger

Hartwick College Welcomes Acclaimed “Intern Queen” Lauren Berger for Talk

January 24, 2013

Hartwick College will welcome Lauren Berger, Founder and CEO of Intern Queen Inc., best-selling author, and leading internship and workplace expert on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7 p.m. The lecture is free and the public is encouraged to attend the event, which will take place in Slade Theater, Yager Hall, on the College campus.

Berger is the author of "All Work, No Pay: Finding an Internship, Building Your Resume, Making Connections, and Gaining Job Experience." The book, which assists readers in obtaining the perfect internship, was released in early 2012 on Random House and quickly became one of the best-selling career books in the country.

"I'm so excited to come to Oneonta and to meet with students at Hartwick," shared Berger. "It is internship season and I have a ton of awesome internship opportunities to share. Now is the time to get started for the summer. After meeting the Intern Queen, I know the students will be the most prepared candidates out there."

According to The Guild Agency, "Intern Queen Inc. is an online internship destination that helps students find and apply for internships while also educating them on how to make the most of their experiences." Berger participated in 15 internships during her four years of college, hence the title "Intern Queen." She earned a degree in Organizational Business Communications at the University of Central Florida and interned for top-notch companies across the country such as MTV, FOX, BWR Public Relations, and NBC.

Berger has spoken to thousands of high school and college students across the country. She has a weekly advice column with the Washington Post website and has been recently featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Fox Business, the New York Post, AOL, Alloy.com, YPulse.com, E!News.com, Yahoo Business, MarieClaire.com, and many more."

The event is supported by Hartwick College Student Senate, The Center for Professional, Service and Global Engagement and Hartwick's 2012-13 "Tools for Life" campus theme. Other sponsors of the event include The Hartwick College Model UN Club, The Center for Student Success, The Hartwick Campus Activities Board, The Hartwick College Chemistry Club, The Hartwick College Business and Accounting Society and The Department of Political Science.

Attendees will have a chance to have books signed by The Intern Queen after her speech, and there will also be a raffle for Hartwick College students in attendance. Current Hartwick students may enter into a drawing to win either 100 housing points or a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble for attending the Intern Queen event, and must be present to claim these prizes.
