Poet, Critic Lloyd Schwartz to Speak on Elizabeth Bishop

Renowned poet and critic Lloyd Schwartz will speak on "'Friending' and Editing Elizabeth Bishop" at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 16 in Room 103 of Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus.

Schwartz will speak on his experience as the friend and protégé, and later the editor, of the poet Elizabeth Bishop.  

He is a widely published poet and the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize for Criticism. Schwartz has published many essays and reviews on Elizabeth Bishop, and has edited the ground-breaking essay collection Elizabeth Bishop and Her Art (1983) as well as the extensive and inclusive Library of America volume Elizabeth Bishop: Poems, Prose, Letters (2008) and, in  2011, Elizabeth Bishop's Prose for Farrar, Straus & Giroux. Schwartz is Professor of English at University of Massachusetts, Boston.
