OH Fest 6 Rocks on Saturday, April 30

April 26, 2011

Student leaders from Hartwick College and SUNY-Oneonta will host the sixth annual OH Fest, this Saturday, April 30, 2011. A unique collaboration between the two Oneonta colleges, OH Fest 6 includes a Main Street Oneonta carnival from 1-5 p.m. and a concert in Neahwa Park beginning at 6 p.m. The concert and carnival are free, and community members are invited and encouraged to attend.

The OH Fest 6 concert headline artist is the popular rapper Pitbull. The carnival will feature bands from the college communities as well as street performers, games, inflatable rides, arts and crafts vendors, great food, and much more.

The evening concert has traditionally drawn thousands of music fans to Neahwa Park, and OH Fest 6 promises to be no exception, with an exciting lineup intended to appeal to a broad array of students and local residents alike. Building upon last year's success, the show will be kicked off with local talent with the winner of a College Battle of the Bands competition opening OH Fest on the main stage. This year's Battle of the Bands winner is SUNY Oneonta heavy metal outfit Sword of Truth.

Also on the OH Fest bill is Who's Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band. In January of 2004, Who's Bad mesmerized a standing-room only gathering of friends and pop music lovers at a small nightclub in Chapel Hill, NC. They have since played over 700 shows in numerous countries and now boast the title "The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute Band."  Their live performance is a jaw-dropping musical extravaganza that pulls from hours of Michael Jackson's catalog and spans four decades of his extraordinary career. From ABC to You Rock My World, no song is forgotten in this electrifying revival of Pop Music's Royal Highness. As the longest- running MJ tribute band and the only one that predates his passing, Who's Bad has awed Michael Jackson fans at sold-out shows the world over.

OH Fest 6 headliner Pitbull will close the festivities when he takes the main stage. Armando Christian Pérez, better known by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper. His first recorded performance was from the Lil Jon album Kings of Crunk in 2002, after which he released his debut album in 2004 titled M.I.A.M.I. (short for Money Is a Major Issue) under TVT Records.

Since then, Pitbull has released two other albums under the label, El Mariel in 2006 and The Boatlift in 2007. He then released Pitbull Starring in REBELUTIONin 2009, which included singles "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" and "Krazy." The latter peaked at #30 on the Hot 100 and #11 on the Hot Rap Tracks charts while "I Know You Want Me" peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 and peaked within the top 10 spots of charts in the UK, Canada, Italy, and the Netherlands. The song reached #1 in France and the European Hot 100 on the week ending August 29, 2009, according to Billboard magazine. Other singles from the album included "Blanco," featuring Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, and "Hotel Room Service," the latter of which peaked at #9 on the Hot 100.
