Jack’s Mannequin to Headline OH Fest 5 on Saturday

April 13, 2010

Student leaders from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College have announced plans to hold a fifth annual festival event, OH Fest 5, on April 24, 2010.

The OH Fest collaboration between the colleges began in 2005, and will continue this year. In addition to smaller events throughout the week, OH Fest will be capped off by a Main Street Oneonta carnival from 1-5 p.m. and Neahwa Park concert beginning at 6 p.m. Both the concert and carnival are free, and community members are invited and encouraged to attend.

The carnival will feature bands from the college communities - Chris Guida, Hooked on Tonics, Let's Tokyo, and Sword of Truth - as well as street performers, carnival games, inflatable rides, arts and crafts vendors, great food, and much more. Vendor applications and more information can be found online.

The evening concert has traditionally drawn thousands of music fans to Neahwa Park, and OH Fest 5 promises to be no exception, with an exciting lineup intended to appeal to a broad array of students and local residents alike.

For the first time in the festival's history, the show will be kicked off with local talent, as Really Old Airplanes, the winner of a College Battle of the Bands competition held March 4, will open proceedings on the main stage.

The concert will be emceed by MTV reality stars Kenny Santucci and Evan Starkman, who have been staples of the network's programming for the past five years. DJ Dave Ali will entertain the crowd between live acts.

Also on the bill is Bad Medicine, the nation's top Bon Jovi tribute act. The band boasts five top-tier musicians, whose shared musical histories include Thin Lizzy, Dio, Great White, and Brett Michaels. Bad Medicine is the only tribute band hired by Jon Bon Jovi's Philly Soul organization, and for Bon Jovi fan club events. They have performed around the country in some of the nation's most revered venues.

Lady Danville combines the camaraderie of Athos, Porthos, and Aramis; the humor of Larry, Moe, and Curley; and the mischief of Huey, Dewey, and Louie into a captivating stew of acoustic rock. In September 2007, the band won the Annual 98.7 Star Lounge Competition with their song "Tired Magician" and released their first EP in December 2007.

OH Fest 5 headliner Jack's Mannequin will close the festivities when they take to the main stage. Headed by Andrew McMahon, former frontman for the well-known west coast punk-pop group Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin will be one of the biggest acts to perform at OH Fest to date. Having sold out concerts nationwide, the band's 2005 debut album, "Everything in Transit," peaked at number 37 on the Billboard charts. The follow-up record, "The Glass Passenger," reached number 8. With its high-energy performance, Jack's Mannequin is sure to bring OH Fest 5 to a rocking conclusion.
