Hartwick Athletics Hosts 8th Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit Auction

April 20, 2011

In what has become a spring tradition, Hartwick College Athletics will host its annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 at Stella Luna Ristorante, 58 Market St. in Oneonta.

Now in its eighth year, the annual event typically raises more than $25,000 for Hartwick College Athletics. The event brings together more than 100 alumni, parents, and friends of Hartwick College, including scores of local supporters of the Hawks.

"This event is always a highlight of the spring calendar," said Dr. Kim Fierke, Hartwick College Athletic Director. "Not only does it make for a great, fun evening with fellow supporters of Hartwick Athletics, but it also goes a long way toward supporting the excellent work our Hartwick student-athletes do on and off the field."

Auction items have been generously donated by local businesses, alumni, and friends of the College. They include a 16 gigabyte, IPAD 2; four box-seat tickets for Yankee Stadium, May 13 vs. Boston Red Sox (online auction only); a signed Manchester United jersey (including Wayne Rooney); two silver circle tickets for The Fab Faux at the Oneonta Theatre June 10; a 750mL bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue, with the etched inscription 'Hartwick Soccer NCAA Division 1 Since 1956'; weekend getaways to the Finger Lakes; and others.

New this year, participants may bid early online at www.biddingforgood.com/WAAbenefitauction. The event is hosted by guest auctioneer Vinne Avanzato.

A donation of $30 per person or $50 per couple includes a wine and beer tasting, as well as hors d'oeuvres. Reservations by May 2 are requested.
