Wick Athletic Association Hosts 10th Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit Auction

April 25, 2013

The Hartwick College Wick Athletic Association (WAA) will host its annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at Stella Luna Ristorante, 58 Market St. in Oneonta.

Now in its 10th year, the annual event typically raises more than $25,000 for Hartwick College Athletics, bringing together more than 100 alumni, parents and friends of Hartwick College, including scores of local supporters of the Hawks.

"The annual wine auction event is always a highlight," said Kim Fierke, Hartwick College athletic director. "Not only does it make for an enjoyable evening with fellow supporters of Hartwick Athletics, it also goes a long way toward supporting the hard work that our scholar-athletes do both on and off the field."

Auction items have been generously donated by local businesses, alumni, and friends of the College. They include a four-night stay in the breath-taking Carr Cragg Cottage in the Lake District region of England; four tickets to the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game on July 20; a two-night stay in Stowe, VT at The Stowe Mountain Lodge; a Kindle Fire e-book reader; a variety of vintage wines; an autographed US National Soccer Team game jersey; and a golf foursome at Turtle Creek Club, Tequesta, FL, among other items.

A donation of $35 per person or $60 per couple includes a wine and beer tasting, as well as hors d'oeuvres. Reservations are requested by May 1, 2013.
