Welcome Weekend Begins Hartwick Journey for New Students

For new students, the Hartwick College journey begins Friday, September 2, as they move into their residence halls and begin taking part in a wide variety of Welcome Weekend activities.

New students will move in and settle in Friday morning before a complimentary picnic lunch on Frisbee Field. Opening Convocation will mark the beginning of the academic experience, and will be held at 3:30 on Friday afternoon. The ceremony — the first of the new academic year — will include a procession of new students, faculty, staff, and administrators in full academic regalia, and remarks by Hartwick College President Dr. Margaret L. Drugovich.

Other fun highlights of Welcome Weekend include:

  • Vegas at 'Wick Casino Night and Dance Party — 9 p.m. Friday, Stack Lounge, Dewar Union
  • OozeFest: Mud Volleyball Tournament — 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Hilltop/Oyaron Volleyball Court
  • Robert Channing: World's Most Famous Mindreader — 8 p.m. Saturday, Stack Lounge, Dewar Union
  • Luau Dance Party — 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Frisbee Field
  • Slice of Oneonta Pizza Fest — 7 p.m. Sunday, Stack Lounge, Dewar Union
  • Hartwick Men's Soccer — 7 p.m. Sunday, Elmore Field
  • Outdoor Film: Pirates of the Carribean: Stranger Tides — 7 p.m. Sunday, Frisbee Field
  • Comedian: Michael Dean Ester — 7 p.m. Monday, Slade Theatre, Yager Hall
