Hartwick Athletics Hosts 11th Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit AuctionApril 16, 2014
Hartwick College Athletics will host its annual Wine & Beer Tasting Reception & Benefit Auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 at Stella Luna Ristorante, 58 Market St. in Oneonta, NY.
Now in its 11th year, the annual event typically raises more than $25,000 for Hartwick College Athletics, bringing together more than 100 alumni, parents and friends of Hartwick College, including scores of local supporters of the Hawks.
"This event is always a highlight of the spring calendar," said Kim Fierke, Hartwick College athletic director. "Not only does it make for a great, fun evening with fellow supporters of Hartwick Athletics, but it also goes a long way toward supporting the excellent work our Hartwick scholar-athletes do on and off the field."
Auction items have been generously donated by local businesses, alumni, and friends of the College. A large variety of "live" and "silent" items will be available during the auction. The live items are high-value pieces, which will auctioned by Vincenzo Avanzato. Silent items will be displayed for attendees to bid on as they sample the food and drinks throughout the evening.
These items include a variety of tickets to sporting events including the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees, and the New York Yankees vs. the Minnesota Twins; a seven-night stay at luxury private condo in Fort Meyers Beach, FL; a golf foursome at Leatherstocking Golf Course in Cooperstown, NY including dinner at the nearby Hawkeye Grill; a threesome of golf with lunch at the prestigious Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, FL; a foursome of golf at the Turtle Creek Club, Tequesta, FL; and a wide variety of vintage, select wines, among other items.
A donation of $40 per person or $70 per couple includes a wine and beer tasting, as well as hors d'oeuvres. Proceeds from the event benefit the Hartwick College Athletics program and will serve to enhance the student-athlete experience.
