Hartwick’s Young to Host “Closeout Sale” Art Raffle PerformanceNovember 12, 2012
On Saturday November 17, 2012, Hartwick College Professor of Art Phil Young will host an Art raffle in "performance form." The event will be held in The Foreman Gallery of the Anderson Center for the Arts on the College campus from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This event is open to the public.
The factious setting of this work is one of a store closing, as Young closes out his teaching career this year at Hartwick College. This multimedia installation is partially composed of a number of works, beginning with the very first painting the viewer encounters around the corner, "Yei Bei Cha Comes Forth", which was also one the very first paintings that Young had displayed during his first faculty exhibition in spring of 1979.
This brief selection hanging on the walls cover a wide span of time, without being chronological or attempting a full retrospective.
The focus of the sale exhibit will be on Young's items in the current Art Faculty exhibition installation, including not only the genuine Indian satire kitsch, etc., but also the actual pieces of Young's art. Throughout the event, there will be a series of "raffles" and a discounted "auction" of items from the show.
Proceeds from items will go to the Kay WalkingStick and the Jaune Quick-To-See Smith Awards for Painting at Hartwick College.
For additional information, contact Young at 607-431-4829 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
