2015 Orientation Leader and Team Coordinator Application and Selection Process

The role of an Orientation Leader is critical to the success of Hartwick's First Year Experience program. Collaboratively, we will work as a team to implement the New Student Orientation (NSO) program.

As an Orientation Leader, you will have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others by guiding and providing support to new students as you lead them through their NSO program. It is our goal that new students will connect, learn about services and resources, experience new things and feel confident that choosing Hartwick College was the right choice.

We are excited that you wish to be a part of this program. We look forward to meeting you throughout the recruitment and selection process.

Application Instructions:

  • Attend a required Information Session on one of the following dates:
    • Wednesday, January 14, 4:00 p.m., Chesebro Room
    • Wednesday, January 21, 11:00 a.m., Chesebro Room
    • Monday, February 16, 12:30 p.m., Chesebro Room
    • Monday, February 16, 8:00 p.m., Farrington Room
  • Complete the online application.
  • Ask a professional staff or faculty member to submit a reference form. When you have completed the application, an email will be sent to your reference, providing instructions on how to complete the online reference form.
  • Select a preferred time for the group process interview on the application. You will be notified of your confirmed date and time via email.
  • Following the group process interview, you will be notified via email if you have been selected for an individual interview.

Job Description:

  • Attend all training sessions.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador on behalf of the Center for Student Success and Hartwick College.
  • Lead new students in small group activities.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • Be reliable, responsible, confident, flexible, and able to manage time well.
  • Display willingness and enjoyment for helping and working with other people.

Position Eligibility:

  • Team Coordinator:
    • Only returning applicants may apply.
    • Registered for 2015 Fall classes as a full-time student.
  • Orientation Leader:
    • Attended at least one semester at Hartwick College.
    • Registered for 2015 Fall classes as a full-time student.

Criteria:

  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average through July 2015.
  • Be in good judicial standing.
  • May not hold other employment during Training & Development and New Student Orientation.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend required training sessions:
    • Monday, April 6, 12:30 p.m.
    • Monday, April 20, 12:30 p.m.
    • Monday, May 4, 12:30 p.m.

Orientation Leader Move-In Dates:

  • Move-in: Tuesday, June 23
  • Training: Tuesday, June 23 - Saturday, July 11

New Student Orientation Dates:

  • Monday, June 29
  • Wednesday, July 1
  • Wednesday, July 8
  • Saturday, July 11
