Transfers

Hartwick is all about melding a liberal arts education with experiential learning. Taking the skills you learn in the classroom and giving you opportunities to use them in courses, internships, and opportunities around the world. It happens again and again, one ambitious student at a time, working with one highly respected professor, reaching for new ideas, life-changing experiences, and unimaginable outcomes.

Each year approximately 60 students transfer into Hartwick. While some colleges and universities review transfer applications only after first-year students have been selected, we review transfer applications on a rolling basis.  Get started on your application today!

Transfer candidates are individuals who have matriculated and received academic credit from another institution and/or those individuals who left the former institution mid-semester without receiving academic credit. Hartwick College welcomes applications from qualified students who wish to transfer from either two- or four-year institutions.

To be eligible, you must hold a high school diploma or General Education Diploma, have at least a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.  Please note that a GPA of 2.0 or higher does not automatically guarantee acceptance to the College and you must be in good academic and social standing at the current or last institution attended.

Interviewing

Although recommended, an admissions interview is not required. We view the interview as an informational tool for both us and you. Our application process is personal, and we like to be able to put a face with the name.

Previously Accepted Students

If you were previously accepted to Hartwick but chose to attend another institution, you must send a letter to the admissions office requesting that your application be re-activated and indicate that you wish to be considered for transfer admission for a specific term of entry. To supplement the original application, you must submit a final high school transcript, college transcripts, and an essay as to why you wish to transfer to Hartwick College. While your previous admission to the College will be in your favor, it does not guarantee admittance to the College as a transfer applicant.
