Character
Hartwick is a four-year, private, nondenominational, coeducational liberal arts and sciences college. Our expansive curriculum emphasizes connecting the classroom to the world. Campus and Location
Hartwick's beautiful 425-acre campus is located in Oneonta, NY, in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains. The campus is literally built into the side of Oyaron Hill and has a breathtaking view of the Susquehanna River valley. Our Pine Lake Environmental Campus is eight miles from the main campus. Oneonta has been ranked as a top ten college town in the nation.

Our Student Body:
1,483 students come from 36 states and 20 countries; 44% male, 56% female; 11% ALANA (African-American, Latino, Asian-American, and Native American); 3% international students. More about Hartwick students . . .

185 faculty members, of which 108 are full-time; 94% hold the highest degree in their disciplines.

Student-to-Faculty Ratio and Class Size:
The student-faculty ratio is 11.5:1, and the average class size is 18.

Academics:
There's lots of food for thought: 31 majors leading to a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree. In addition, 10 special minors (minors also are available in almost every major); pre-professional programs in law, medicine, engineering, and allied health professions; and five cooperative programs in engineering, law, business, and physical and occupational therapy. Costs & Financial Aid: 
Costs for new students for 2008-09 include tuition: $31,330; housing (double occupancy) $4,500; meals: $4,185; fees: $870. About 98 percent of our students receive financial aid. The average aid package exceeds $20,000. More on affordability & financial aid . . .

Athletics:

Student Life
Hartwick offers the wide range of activities you'd find at a large school with the opportunities for creativity and leadership only a small school can offer. Our active student life is boosted by intramural sports and more than 65 student organizations, including sororities and fraternities; performing arts groups in dance, theatre, voice, and instrumental (classical and jazz); WRHO, the campus radio station; Hilltops, the student newspaper; community service opportunities. Residential Life:
More than 80% of Hartwick students live in College housing. Students have a wide variety of options, from single-sex floors to substance-free theme houses, Pine Lake to townhouses. Housing is guaranteed for all four years, although seniors may live off-campus. Our Wired Campus:
The student-computer ratio is 1:1.25, which means our campus has more computers than students and one thing we don't have to think about is how to get connected. Our academic buildings are totally wired, and the same is true for every residence hall and the library. Accreditation
Hartwick is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the National Association of Schools of Music, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The bachelor of science degree program in chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society.
